Logo History

I've chosen to do my research of the Firefox logo. Firefox has been around for some years now and that means that so has its logo. The recognizable orange fox hugging the globe
The company was originally called Firebird, however that later changed to Firefox and thus the need for a new logo
The idea for the logo came from Daniel Burka seeing a Japanese brush painting of a fox. The design was then sketched up by Stephen Desroches. Which was then rendered using Fireworks MX.

The logo is meant to symbolize Firefox’s global reach as well as its “blazing” speed. The logo has gone through small yet important changes throughout its lifetime. Although looking at the 4 different logos side-by-side you would think that not much changed and if you didn't know better, might even think it was just 4 different artist creating different version at the same time. However these small changes have bigger meaning to them. As you can tell by the first logo it's a lot more rigid, very paint-by-number, Mozilla Firefox wanted a sleeker and more cohesive logo thus adding shadows while also blending colors together to get more depth.
